It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

As fall is my favorite season, Christmas is by far my favorite holiday! I start thinking about it as soon as the kids head back to school and I get so excited as we get closer to Thanksgiving and the season truly begins. We are knee deep in Christmas movies, caroling, hot chocolate, candy canes, The Night Before Christmas and of course the decorations!!

I love to decorate for Christmas, but my most favorite part of all the decorations are the tree and all the other lights I put up around the house. There is just nothing better than sitting down at night with the lights dimmed or off and having the whole house twinkle around me. I just love it!

Today I am linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals to show you around our home all decorated for Christmas...take a look :)

I made this fun sign with a small chalkboard easel from Michaels, a wooden picture frame that Olivia and my niece painted for me, and of course some chalk! This sits on my kitchen counter!

My santa hat chair covers from Lakeside. The kids love these and so do I!

I made this NOEL piece last year with a friend. We painted the wooden letters and added berries and an ornament to the wreath. This year I added some star lights around it and the gold candle.

This is the other side of the living room! I just love my shelves for decorating!

Here are a few of my favorite pieces that I bought this year!

I replaced the neutral balls in this bowl for a some cute ornaments!

I bought this for the kids and gave it to them the day before Thanksgiving! This is from the Hallmark North Pole collection and this is dance like an elf. The kids love it and I love watching them do the moves and also doing it right along with them. Saturday morning I worked up a sweat! We were dancing like penguins, stirring the hot chocolate, steering Santa's sleigh, putting presents under the tree and all kinds of other fun dance moves! I definitely recommend this!

My picture ledges got a Christmas face lift! A few twinkle lights and some Christmas pictures!

I bought a cute sparkly green frame on clearance at Michaels and added a free printable subway art.
I found the printable at Candace Creates.

I LOVE my Angels bring Peace cross stitch from my mother in law!

Across from my picture ledges in the hallway, I hung the stockings. I had the stocking holder made a few years ago because we don't have a mantel to put the stockings on, and I just love it! Next week, I am doing a paint nite and making a snowman painting which will go in place of the Family sign for the holiday season.

Now for the trees! We have less than 900 square feet in our house, but that isn't stopping us from having 4 Christmas trees :)

This cutie, came home with me before Thanksgiving! I saw it outside the grocery store and knew I had to have it for this exact location! I bought some battery operated lights and it twinkles and perfectly lights up that corner! I usually work with my vases (See the Halloween one here) but for Christmas, I thought a small tree would be perfect and I was right!

The kids each have a tree on their side of the room!

Olivia has one in her American Girl doll house. We got all the girls ready for a Christmas party Sunday!

Owen has one next to his book shelf!
Pay no attention to the unfinished walls and floor, I try not too!

And finally, the big tree!
We went and cut it down on Saturday morning (I will post pictures of that on Thursday) and decorated on Saturday night! The tree came out great! We do colored lights on our tree, just as we both had growing up, but I light up the rest of the house in white lights! It is so peaceful to watch the lights!

Just a couple of cuties decorating the tree!

After all that hard work we settled down to enjoy the lights, eat pizza and watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

I have a few more new decorations coming this week (I did a Black Friday order) and today I added garland to the top of my cabinets. We have crown molding to go up there, but it hasn't been installed yet, so I figured I would fill the void and I love it! Now if I could just make it glow, it would be perfection...did I mention I love Christmas lights?? :)

I have the perfect place for this cute sign in the laundry room. I found it at Kohls.

And this Merry Christmas wooden box sign will look good somewhere in the house!

And finally this beautiful wooden box sign! Love it! I can't wait for them to arrive! Then I am cut off from decorating. Time for the fun stuff and of course, wrapping!

I can't wait to take a peak at the link up and see how everyone else decorates for the holiday!

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season as much as we are, so far! Have a great Tuesday!

    1. The two wooden trees and Believe sign is from Hallmark, the JOY sign is from JoAnn Fabrics, the Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sign is from Kohls, along with all the new stuff coming!
