Show and Tell Tuesday

Andrea at Momfessionals announced last week that she was going to do a Show and Tell link party where we will share bits and pieces of our life! This works perfect for me because one day a week, I planned to talk about my life, my home, my kids, etc. So now I have a little prompt to give me ideas!!

This week, we are talking about our 2015 Goals/Resolutions...

I am sure that if you have been following my blog, you already know one of my biggest goals for this year, but I actually have quite a few others to talk about today!

  1. Reach my goal weight! I have started Chris Powell's Choose to Lose diet and I am loving it and having good results so far! If you want to read about my journey or start your own you can find all the diet information here and my progress here.
  2. I need to go through all my old purses and bags and empty them. I know this might sound weird, but when I change purses, I take everything of importance, put it in the new bag and leave a whole bunch of stuff in the old bag. I need to empty all of them and I bet I would find some stuff I have been looking for and I probably need to get rid of some bags while I am at it! Then I wouldn't switch bags so much :) This is a bag I haven't used since the summer. Do you see that it still has coloring books, snacks, receipts and lists in it. Awful...just awful!
  3. Pay off debt! This is a big one this year because we are beyond ready to go upstairs on our house, so it is time to buckle down and pay off the first floor renovation. We sat down one day this week and set up our "snowball." If anyone has read Dave Ramsey, then you know that is where you pay off your smallest balances first and take the payment from the paid off balances and add that payment to the payment for the next lowest balance and continue bulking up your payment until you have everything paid off. Mike and I used this method last time we were paying off debt, to get ready for the first floor renovation, so we are putting the system in place again. Friday I paid off one bill and put the payment to the next one we are working on! It felt good and I am motivated to continue. It is not going to be easy and we will have to cut down on our spending, but it is time!
  4. I need to organize some very specific areas of my house, including:

My desk area, although it doesn't look soooo bad right now, know, that I just cleaned it the day before I took this picture and within one day I will no longer be able to have the computer on the desk! I need an organization system for paperwork and "stuff" that I need temporarily or that I need to reference later. Right now it just sits on the desk and it takes over. This area, I have already started working on, and I think the system I am going to use will work. If it does, I will be sure to blog about it!

The coat closet....uugghhh! This serves a few purposes because this is the only closet in the house besides mine. So this is every coat the kids own, hats and mittens in a basket on the floor. All the different bags that the kids and I use and our reusable shopping bags. If we need it to get out the door, it is in this closet, but the closet is tiny. So some stuff needs to relocate and what is staying in there needs to be organized. While we are talking about closets, let's just take a look at this disaster.....

I swear I am not a hoarder, but my closet looks like I am. This is my post Christmas closet. Again this is the only other closet in my house besides the tiny coat closet. So this houses all of our clothes and some of the kids. Right now it has tons of Christmas stuff in it so it looks really bad. It isn't normally this bad...I promise. This picture is about as "keepin it real" as it gets! I need to go through the closet, remove the Christmas stuff, go through all my clothes and toss what I don't wear and organize what is left.  Disclaimer: Don't mind the random assortment of things I am using for my attempt at organizing this closet, I refuse to buy anything nice and new for a closet that in a year will be a staircase!

The basement, oh the dreaded basement! It was so clean and organized and then we needed to clean out the garage to fit the car in and then I had to rearrange and get rid of some stuff in Olivia's room to make room for her new things from Christmas, and this is the result. Things get tossed here when we don't know what to do with them. So I have to go down there and do some organizing. This space is very cold right now, but come spring and summer it is a place that the kids play and do crafts. But, if it still looks like this no one will want to go down there and we need all the space we can get!

I swear in general when you walk in my house, since most of this craziness occurs behind closed doors, you would never know that I have such clutter in other places. My house is quite clean and cozy, but now you all know my secrets :)

Well that's it! Four goals for 2015! They are pretty typical resolutions, I think. Lose weight, organize and pay off debt! Ha! I am probably joining most of the world in my quest this year, but I am feeling really good about it. I started the diet a week before the New Year so I am off and running with that and I feel more motivated than I have every felt. I have already started the organizing and we already started our "snowball." So these aren't just wishes for us, we have already started taking action! Yay, us! 2015 is going to be a great year, I just know it!
