I have decided to do Weight Watchers.

If you have been following along for a while, you are shaking your head right now thinking I change my mind as often as I change my underwear and you are probably right!!

I really did like carb cycling and that whole plan does still make a lot of sense to me, but I felt like I needed a break, so I was just counting calories (or not, depending on the day) but not following any plan, which doesn't work for me. I was trying to gear myself back up for another cycle of carb cycling, but I was feeling a little hesitant. 

Then I poured my heart out Wednesday in my Where's the Love, post and an old friend contacted me about joining her in Weight Watchers. She said she thought it would be a great plan for me, because it isn't restrictive. I can still go out to eat with my friends, eat Girl Scout cookies but in moderation. It is a lifestyle change that would work for me. 

She is right, I am not going to cut out things forever. I am going to eat cookies, tacos and drink wine and I can on WW, I just have to learn to portion it. Mike has been trying to get me to do WW for a long time. He felt it would be the best plan for us, although I knew I would be the one counting the points and I didn't want to do it, but this time when my friend emailed me, I was ready. Within 5 minutes I wrote back with a yes answer and knew I would start right away! 

Saturday I went to my first weigh in. I was bummed by the number on the scale. I knew I had eaten a lot of Girl Scout cookies this week, then Friday (knowing I was starting Saturday) I ate like I would never eat again and had a few drinks. Then of course, I am weighing in with clothes on as opposed to not, when I weigh in at home. So it was a big jump in weight for me. But, the meeting was great and I feel motivated. I am going to continue to weigh in on Saturday morning so I will change up my blog schedule a bit and I haven't decided how yet, but I will keep you posted!!

So far, I have been doing great! I went out to lunch with friends today, so I dipped into my extra points, but that is what they are there for. I still have some more for the rest of the week as well!

Now for my first WW meal plan. This week not everything has points values on it, but as I get going with the program, my meals plans and points will be more thorough! 

Breakfast Options

  1. All Bran, Kind Granola and Unsweetened Almond Milk (5pp) - I am loving this quick breakfast and I am not sick of it yet, so I have been having it daily. 

Lunch
  1. Trader Joe's Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Soup and half sandwich or side salad
  2. Salad with chicken or leftover taco meat (varied points depending on ingredients)
  3. Ham wraps - veggie wrap, greens, tomatoes and a tiny bit of light mayo or honey mustard! So good!

Dinner
  1. Tacos - Taco Salad for me (8pp)
  2. Marinated chicken, served with veggies and rice
  3. Breakfast for dinner - eggs, turkey bacon, fruit
  4. Brown Sugar Pork Chops served with sweet potato and veggies
  5. One slice of pizza served with salad
  6. Stir Fry with chicken and veggies topped with Archer Farms stir fry sauce and noodles. 
I bought a few of these stir fry sauces at Target. This one is only 8 points for the whole pouch. 



Then I bought these noodles to add to the stir fry. There are 2 servings in this bag and the whole bag is only 1 point! 



All together, I should be able to put together a full dish of stir fry for only 6-8 points

Snacks


  1. Protein shake with tropical fruit mixed in
  2. On the Go Shake with cashews on the side
  3. Popcorn
  4. Veggies with hummus
  5. Fruit 
I have a pretty busy week ahead, appointments, meetings, tournaments, dance, Girl Scouts, The Bachelor Finale (you know, important stuff) and of course, staying within my points :) Have a great week everyone!

  4. My parents both did WW when I was a kid, they seemed to get better results with that than anything else! Best of luck:)

  5. So happy that you found something that works for you and your family. Weight watchers is an amazing program. I have done it with great success. I found it easier to "train" my husband to recognize carbs/fats/proteins easier than have him calculate points. That's probably the only reason we're doing what we're doing. :)
