What's Up Wednesday

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

I am super excited to be partying with Mix and Match Mama and Pinterest Told Me To, today! I just love these two blogs and have found lots of other bloggers that I follow from them! If you haven't checked them out, you totally should!

This is a new monthly link up where you talk about, What's up??!! So let's get started!

What We are Eating this Week:

I posted my meal plan on Weigh in Monday. Recipes for Cornflake Chicken and Cheeseburger salad will be up soon, with Weight Watchers points included, of course!

What I am Reminiscing About:

Swimming. Last week, we went to North Conway for a few days during April vacation and the kids and I had so much fun with friends. It was so relaxing to just hang out and swim all day!

What I'm Loving:

Warmer weather! It is sloooooowly but surely getting nicer around here and I am loving all the outside time my kids are getting. Owen learned to ride his bike without training wheels and both kids got new bikes! They have loved riding them and the weather can only get better from here on out!

So proud of himself!

New Star Wars bike! Those training wheels came right off after the pic!

Olivia's new bike!

What We've Been Up To:

Making healthier choices! I alone am doing Weight Watchers, but the whole family is working on making healthier choices for our body. Olivia is getting into it with me and learning to take care of her body on her own. Both on the inside and the outside. How do I have an almost 9 year old?

What I'm Dreading:

Cleaning the house today. I need to clean the bathroom and mop floors, two of my least favorite tasks! Since I don't generally take pictures of myself cleaning, here are a few funny ecards (if you are not new here, you know how much I love these!) to make you laugh!

What I'm Working On:

Consistent exercise! I started doing PiYo last night. A friend of mine on the west coast and I are challenging each other to stick to the 8 week PiYo workout schedule and I love a good challenge partner! Combined with my fitness challenge, I can not make excuses! I got Olivia in on it with me and we worked out together last night! She loved the workout too, so it will be great for both of us!

What I'm Excited About:

We are finally getting close to putting our upstairs on and I couldn't be more excited! We so badly need the space, and I can't wait to pull up to this beautiful house!

What I'm Watching/Reading:

I just finished two Emily Giffin books, that I received from my Books and Bloggers Swap. Book reviews to come!

As for watching, I am still binge watching Friday Night Lights. Every Night. Love it!

What I'm Listening To:

Nothing. It is quiet in the house right now. Gotta love a few minutes of quiet before the day starts!

What I'm Wearing:

As I write, pajamas! Which reminds me I could use some new spring/summer pajamas, like these....

What I'm Doing this Weekend:

Opening day for Little League. Owen is playing tee ball for the first time and I can't wait to see it!

This was his first time playing soccer!

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:

What am I not looking forward to??

May is busy, but all really great things! Baseball, dance and prep for recital, Kindergarten meeting and screening, end of the year party for Girl Scout Leaders and daughters, a very special boy in my life is being baptized, a trip to Rhode Island,  my one year blog anniversary and my 10 year wedding anniversary!! Talk about crazy and fun and exciting and special, this month has it all!

10 years!

What Else is New:

Well, I have a fabulous new pair of wedges, but you have to wait until Friday Favorites to see them!

What Do I Want for Mother's Day:

Olivia has a secret up her sleeve for Mothers Day that she is so excited about and because of how much she is into it and can't wait for Mother's Day, I only want that! It makes my heart happy just to see her want to do something special for me. Most of the time Sometimes motherhood can be a thankless job, so to see her want to do something nice for me, is all I can ask for! Of course, I wouldn't turn any other goodies away, like flowers, chocolates, or some cute new pajamas (Mike see above)!!

That's all that UP, with me, What's up with you?

Have a great Wednesday!

Books n' Bloggers Reveal

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

I participated in my first Books n' Bloggers swap this month. What fun this is! I look forward to doing it again! You get paired up with another blogger who you learn a little bit about and send them a package. The package should include:

  • A book from your partner's wishlist.
  • A book you have read and loved.
  • A book you haven't read, but think looks interesting.
  • *Optional* Other book-related goodies.

My partner was Giovanna, she writes over at Bookcoma, she does some great book reviews so check her out!

I read through her book wish lists and a little of her blog and social media platforms, then went on the hunt for the perfect books. I was super happy with the books, journal and bookmark, I chose for her and she said she loved the package!

But, I will say that when I got her package, I realized that I really need to up my game in the package sending department because her package to me was amazing! AMAZING. All the books were wrapped in really cool paper and numbered with fun glittery numbers. She sent me a few extra goodies, a notebook/journal, bookmarks, page clips and chocolate (who doesn't love chocolate??) and the presentation was just way better than mine! She even sent me a nice letter and I only put sticky notes on her books....when did I get to be so lame?? :)

Look at this presentation!

Here is what was inside!

So whoever gets me next time, know, that I will send a beautiful package!

I have already read two of the books and I now have a new favorite author! I can't wait to tell you all about it in my next book review! Thanks so much Giovanna!

Weigh In Monday

Monday, April 27, 2015

Well, as I said last week, I knew I would gain this week. It was the nature of the week. I was away without the kids for the first weekend of vacation and away with the kids during vacation and I didn't track at all. I just let myself and eat and drink what I wanted. Let's get right to the scale...

My goal going into this week was to maintain or gain 2 pounds or less. I obviously went a bit over that, but I am confident that next week I will take it all off and hopefully a few extra ounces at least! When I look at the total weight loss so far (13.1 pounds) in 7 weeks, it still averages right around 2 pounds per week!

Fitness challenge with The Bohemian Housewife

How did I do with exercise this week this week? Well, it was also a little bit of a flop, I am not going to lie. Here was my plan and how it worked out....

Monday: Family walk after dinner - Rain, I was planning the treadmill but, didn't happen
Tuesday: Swimming or fitness center - 1.5 hours of swimming, lots of treading water!
Wednesday: Swimming or fitness center - 3 + hours of swimming
Thursday: Swimming and family walk after dinner - None
Friday: Piyo, T25 or walk - None
Saturday: Piyo, T25 or walk - None
Sunday: Piyo, T25 or walk *optional if needed - It was needed! Walk 30 minutes

So now it is all work and no play this week! I really want to take off at least what I gained. That is just what I will need to keep up the motivation and momentum!

You can't have a great week without some planning....

Exercise Plan

Monday - T25 or Piyo
Tuesday - Walk 50 minutes
Wednesday - T25 or Piyo
Thursday - Family Walk after Dinner
Friday - T25, Piyo or Walk
Saturday - T25, Piyo or Walk
Sunday - Family Walk after Dinner

Has anyone done T25, Piyo or both? Which do you think is better for weight loss?

Linking up my meal plan with the Laura's and Jill!

I hope everyone has a great week! Come on back tomorrow for my Books and Blogger Swap Reveal! Can't wait to share what I received in my package!

Pizza Swap

Thursday, April 23, 2015

A tradition in our house is Pizza and movie night on Friday nights. Every other night we sit at the table and eat dinner, but on Friday nights we all get comfy and sit on the couch and watch a movie while we eat Pizza! We have been doing it for years and we love it. The kids enjoy the time to unwind and relax after a long week and I love the snuggle time with my kids after we finish eating!

When I started Weight Watchers and decided that I was going to go weigh in on Saturday mornings with a friend, I knew that I needed an alternative to pizza for Friday night. Yes, I could eat just one slice of pizza and a salad, but let's be honest, I didn't get where I am from eating one slice of pizza, or two or sometimes even three! I needed something to eat when the rest of the family eats pizza and I need it to be good and I need it to be tasty enough that I don't want to eat their pizza after I finish my own dinner!

I consulted Pinterest, of course, and found a recipe for Skinny Pizza Logs from Emily Bites and knew this would be the first recipe I would try! I made mine a little different so check out her recipe, if you like pepperoni and mine if you prefer a veggie pizza!

Veggie Pizza Logs

Egg Roll wrappers
1 tsp - Pizza sauce
pinch of Italian Seasoning
1/2 - light mozzarella cheese stick
Cooked mushroom and onion
*or veggies of your choice
Small bowl of water

Place pizza sauce, italian seasoning, string cheese and toppings of your choosing on the egg roll wrapper.

My toppings. I put them in the microwave for 30 seconds to cook and soften them!

Roll wrapper as shown in the pictures above. Moisten the edge with water to seal.

Place on a greased cookie sheet (I used cooking spray) and bake at 425 degrees for 10-14 minutes. Flip once halfway through.

2 Points + per roll

These are great because you can make just a few or a whole bunch. They are also good in the morning cold, just like pizza, so make a lot and refrigerate for the next day!

*one tip, the egg roll wrappers dry out fast and then they break easily while you are rolling them. As you can see in the pic, I did the whole batch at one time, next time I would only do a few at a time so that I can get them rolled up faster!

You should definitely try these for your next pizza night and let me know what you think!

Have a great Thursday!

Naming the Kids

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Linking up with Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday and this week is fun! How did we pick our kids names? I think our story is kind of funny, so I was excited to share! And of course you can't have a post like this without some pictures mixed in!

When I was pregnant the first time and were choosing names, we knew right away that if it was a boy we were going to name him Owen. We both just really loved that name. If it was a girl we were clueless! We liked a bunch of names, but couldn't decide on one.

Well, we found out in February of 2006, that we were having a baby girl. I was beyond excited! Now we had to choose a name!

So we did what any indecisive parents would do, and left it up to everyone else! We took a vote!

We narrowed our choices down to our top 5 and started asking everyone we knew and even some we really didn't, to see what name they liked best. We said that we would name our baby girl whichever name got the most votes!

Our list included

We had the list on a piece of paper that we took with us every where we went and we polled everyone. (I am so upset, because I know I saved it, but I couldn't find it to take a picture today). Olivia, although not my first choice, won by a long shot. And even though it wasn't my favorite at the time, it is by far my favorite on the list now! I couldn't imagine having picked any other name! She is definitely an Olivia! She also has a whole bunch of equally cute and perfect nicknames, Liv, Livy and Lulu!

When we found out we were pregnant for the second (and last) time, we were leaning towards Isabelle if it was a girl, and for a boy we still really loved Owen. When we found out that we were having a boy, we did go through other boy names to see if we found anything we liked better, but we didn't. Four years later it was still number one!

For middle names, we went with Marie for Olivia because I just like that middle name and it happens to be my cousins middle name, and Michael for Owen after Mike.

So, it was never the plan to have two kids with "O" names, but it is how it turned out. They also both have the exact same initials, which also wasn't the plan, and is actually kind of a pain, when it comes to labeling! I can never put just their initials because they are exactly the same! But someday I won't be labeling things for them anymore and will think it is special and kind of fun!

I love my babies and their names!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Weigh in Monday

Monday, April 20, 2015

Week 6! I can't believe it! I have stuck to a diet for 6 weeks and have lost a total of ...drum roll please...

I am beyond excited!  Here is how this week went...

This weekend, I went away with one of my girlfriends to do some scrapbooking. There was also some snacking, eating and a few Margaritas involved!

This week is school vacation week and I am going away for a few days with the kids and again there will be lots of eating and drinking happening, but there will also be swimming, so I will get some exercise!

My goal this week is to be on target Monday, Thursday and Friday and that I will either maintain or gain less than 2 pounds! I think considering my plans, this is a healthy goal!

After weighing in on Friday, I had a moment of feeling upset that after doing so well, I was going to have a tough week and likely will gain, but then I thought, this is life. Real life. Even when I get to my goal weight there are going to be challenging times where I may gain a few pounds. The important part is not, how I handle this week, but how I handle next week. I am not going to beat myself up about living life this week, I am just going to get back on track next week. Just like week 4 and 5. Week 4 I gained because of my need for sweets, but week 5 I rocked it out of the park and lost all I had gained plus some!

So on the days that I am home this week I will track and I will own up to whatever the scale says on Saturday, but then I will forget about that and focus my efforts on a new week!

Now for the fitness challenge that I am doing with Bohemian Housewife, how did I do with fitness this past week??

Monday: Piyo, T25 or a walk - walked 50 minutes with a friend!
Tuesday: After dinner Family Walk - 30 minute walk while the kids rode bikes
Wednesday: Piyo, T25 or a walk - I was under the weather and did nothing
Thursday: After dinner Family Walk - 30 minute walk while the kids rode bikes
Saturday: Elliptical or Treadmill - Shopping and laughing, does that count?
Sunday: Elliptical or Treadmill - Played football and other outside activities with the kids

I did 4 out of 6 days which is a heck of a lot better than the 0 days that I was getting the weeks before! This week, I hope to get in all 6 days!

Now this week's plan...

Monday: Family walk after dinner
Tuesday: Swimming or fitness center
Wednesday: Swimming or fitness center
Thursday: Swimming and family walk after dinner
Friday: Piyo, T25 or walk
Saturday: Piyo, T25 or walk
Sunday: Piyo, T25 or walk *optional if needed

You can check out Alisha's 2nd week here

I am not meal planning this week as we will be away, but I will be back with a plan next week!

Have a great Monday everyone!

Friday Favorites

Friday, April 17, 2015

It's Friday!! Not just any Friday, but the Friday that this mama leaves to go scrapbooking with one of my favorite friends for the weekend! This weekend is going to include lots of relaxation, going down memory lane while I scrapbook some older pictures, shopping, maybe a pedicure, eating, drinks and lots of chatting and catching up on our lives! I am beyond excited and can not wait! Although I will miss my family, I will make up for lost time next week when the kiddos are on vacation!

In honor of my scrapbooking weekend, I thought it would be fun to link up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites and show you some of my favorite scrapbook pages from the kids baby books!

For each of the kids, I scrapbooked a baby book for them. It includes pictures from my pregnancy, birth, each milestone and a calendar page for every month of their first year. Then after 12 months, I have a page for every birthday up to 5 years, then a page spread of all their school pics, K-12. These books are so special to me, and to the kids.

Here are my favorites from Olivia's book

Here are my favorites from Owen's book

Other than these baby books, I do a separate family scrapbook for every year. I am almost finished with the year 2012. I skipped 2007-2011 because in 2012 I decided I wanted to scrapbook stuff that was a little more current, but now again, I am 3 years behind with 5 other years to catch up on!

I know someday my kids won't want to hang around us, and Mike and I will have tons of free time to do the things we love to do, that now, we don't have any time for. Someday I will be so caught up on these books and I will be looking for projects and I will miss the days that I was so behind!

Now, I am off to go weigh in! Be back Monday with my results!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
