The Moment of Truth

I kept everyone updated with my health and how I was losing or not losing weight, frequently when I first started blogging. Then I realized that I wasn't staying committed, not to myself or to this blog or to trying to lose weight.

I was on the wagon, off the wagon, on the wagon, ooooofffff the wagon way too many times to talk about here. I am sure my dedicated readers were sick of hearing about it, and I was sick of writing about it and feeling ashamed. So I stopped blogging about it and honestly stopped trying to lose weight for a while.

Let's go back 6 months and I was at the doctors. My health for the most part is really good (considering), but my cholesterol is starting to get a little high and I am overweight. Shocker, right??!! She told me she wanted me to lose 10 pounds by my next visit in 6 months. This was close to 6 months ago.

Have I lost 10 pounds? Here is the story. I went to the doctors in August and I don't remember the weight on the scale, but I think it was in the 215-220 range. Ugh. I for sure gained before I started to lose and my highest weight showing in My Fitness Pal from my sporadic tracking is 222 pounds in September. I would say it would be accurate to say I probably gained 10 pounds before I even started trying to lose weight. Ugh. I can hear it, some of you are shaking your head and saying, Sandy, Sandy, Sandy....

Hold on, let me explain! I may not have taken off a ton of weight, but I am working on changing my ways and have decided that waking up one Monday morning (because is there any other day to start a diet?) and completely changing the way I eat and exercise is not going to work for me. Yes, I would love to eat healthy and exercise daily, that is the person I want to be, but am I going to go from who I am now to that overnight? #hellno it's not happening. I can tell you that it never works. Believe me, I have tried, again and again. Tomorrow I am going to be a new person...Right??! Wrong!

So what have I been doing? Back in December I started going to Zumba 3 times a week. I LOVE Zumba. Love it! It is a great workout, but for me, totally doesn't feel like it because I have so much fun! It isn't a chore to go which makes me go consistently! In December I didn't really change my eating and just maintained during the holidays.

Starting in January, I am trying to be more consistent in tracking on my Fitness Pal and I got on the scale last Thursday and here is what it said....dun, dun, dun...

OK, so yes, it has been 6 months and I haven't lost the 10 pounds completely, but it is going down and that is what matters! I have lost 8.8 pounds since my highest weight on My Fitness Pal and I think a few pounds since my last weight at the doctors. My appointment is the first week in March and my personal goal is to see at least 199 on the scale. It is more than 10 pounds, but I want to say goodbye to the two's! If I keep up with Zumba and tracking it shouldn't be a problem!

Here is what My Fitness Pal diary looks like since the appointment...

I am going to continue doing what I am doing. I am not limiting any certain foods, or eating low carb. I am just staying within my calorie limits and exercising. This is what I plan to do until it stops working! I will update you here every 4 weeks and let you know how it is going!

How many of you are working on weight loss this year? It is time for me to get healthy and now it is under doctors orders so it is time to listen!

Have a great day everyone! Till next time ❣

  1. I could have wrote this exact same post a year ago. I have never really gave my all to losing weight. I simply just had a good meal here or there and expected it to work for me. Then I joined Weight Watchers and it has been a lifesaver for me. I have lost more weight than ever before and I truly feel like I'm doing it the right way. My highest weight was 202 and I'm down to 155. I am 5!!!!! pounds away from goal. I know you can do what you need to, I'll be cheering you on.

    1. You go girl!!! That is amazing! I have been following you on instagram and have seen your great progress! I have done WW before, if you follow it, it definitely works! If I have to do a diet to get off the last bit of weight I would definitely go back!!

I would love to hear your comments and suggestions...
